Menno Gaastra, dermatologist
"Collaboration is the connecting factor" That is the motto with which Menno Gaastra, dermatologist, has set up Centrum Oosterwal. In almost 30 years, he and a large enthusiastic team of doctors, nurses and support staff have built a beautiful center where high-quality care is provided with the patient as the central focus. From this perspective, there is close cooperation with Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep, VU Medical Center and the Academic Medical Center. "Treat patients the way you would like to be treated"
"Attention is an important spearhead," says Gaastra. "Of course, personal attention for the patient is number one. In addition, we pay a lot of attention to everything that is needed to continuously improve the quality of care for the patient. Collaboration is the connecting factor. In this building, the patient gets one story: from the nursing team and the doctors in the treatment rooms to picking up medication at the pharmacy. This way, patients know what to expect and we see that reflected in the quality of the treatment. I have the advantage that we have Pharmacor Pharmacy in-house here. Pharmacist Cor Venema and his pharmacy team still prepare a lot themselves and that allows me to always offer customization. We drink coffee in the same coffee room and ensure that both the pharmacy team and the nursing team receive the same training if necessary."
"The short lines mean we are very well informed about each other's challenges and ideas. Take, for example, all the unrest that arose when many dermatological preparations were no longer reimbursed. Together with pharmacist Cor Venema, I participated in the Fagron advisory board. It is good to make our voices heard together, especially when it comes to the position and reimbursement of dermatological care. We cannot solve everything, but it is good that there are parties like Fagron that are also committed to this. It is an interaction that I think it is important to contribute to. With my input and that of my colleagues, Fagron can once again work on new services and innovations that help me to improve the quality of the treatments for my patients."
