Cor Venema, pharmacist

In Centrum Oosterwal in Alkmaar, where they mainly focus on dermatology and phlebology, you will find Apotheek Pharmacor. A public and outpatient pharmacy where many preparations are still made. "That does not mean that we only make and supply dermatological medication here, we also receive many prescriptions from hospitals in the area or patients with a prescription from their GP, but our unique position within a dermatological centre is of course one to be proud of", says Cor Venema, pharmacist.

"Sometimes it's just necessary to deviate from standard medication"

The long-standing collaboration that pharmacist Cor Venema has with Menno Gaastra, founder and dermatologist of Centrum Oosterwal, is reflected every day in customization for the patient. "I know his working method, I know that when he, or another doctor from his team prescribes customization, that it has been carefully considered. Sometimes it is simply necessary to deviate from standard medication. Then I choose to prepare it myself, or outsource it to a GMP-certified partner. The continuity of supply, keeping it affordable for the patient and reliable advice are important considerations that I make."

Recently, Fagron informed me at an early stage about the availability of new color capsules.

Informing me in a timely manner, that little bit of extra service, that is nice. That is also the reason why I like to be a sounding board with Fagron. Together we must continue to commit ourselves to customized care for the patient, also when it comes to reimbursements, we exchanged ideas about that with the Fagron advisory board at the time. We cannot always achieve what we want and sometimes topics have to be addressed nationally, but only by working together can we do much more for our patients! That is what we do it for every day; ensuring satisfied patients.’’
