Change in orders with a doctor’s declaration – as of July 1

As of July 1, we are simplifying and accelerating the process for ordering products not registered in the Netherlands (supplied with a doctor’s declaration).

New process & new portal
Until now, you submitted the required information for orders with a doctor’s declaration via email. Starting July 1, after placing your order, you will receive an email with a link to provide the additional required information. This link will take you to a page where you can:
  • View the status of your ongoing orders with a doctor’s declaration,
  • Be automatically logged in using the email address to which the message was sent, and
  • Be prompted to create a personal password upon your first login.
By clicking on the relevant order, a screen will open where you can enter the necessary information. If applicable, a button will appear to upload a (new) doctor’s declaration. Once the information is submitted, the order will be automatically processed. If manual review is required, a staff member will be notified.

This new method will save time and is expected to reduce delivery delays for your order.

Explanation of delivery with a doctor’s declaration
Fagron may only proceed with the delivery of a medicine based on a doctor’s declaration once this declaration has been received. This is a legal requirement under the Dutch Medicines Act (Geneesmiddelenwet). The doctor’s declaration confirms that:

  • The physician is responsible for prescribing an unregistered medicine.
  • The medicine is necessary for the treatment of a specific patient.
  • The patient has been informed about the associated risks.
Without this declaration, Fagron is not permitted to deliver the product, as doing so would violate regulations concerning medicines without marketing authorization. If the order is for a patient for whom a doctor’s declaration has already been submitted, providing the patient number is sufficient. Fagron will then verify the validity of the previously received declaration.

Important: The doctor’s declaration must not contain any patient-identifiable information.
