Pedippi® Frequently asked questions

Can Pedippi be diluted?

Yes, Pedippi can be diluted with a little milk (20-30 ml).

Lareb's advice: Dilute omeprazole suspension Pedippi with milk

Parents who give their child Pedippi are advised to dilute the suspension with a small amount of milk. This is because the suspension is thick, which can cause problems for the child when swallowing.

The CBG has asked the manufacturer to include advice in the package leaflet to take the suspension with a small amount (20-30 ml) of milk.

My Pedippi bottle is leaking. Why is that?

Leaks can be caused by:

  • the bottle has not been prepared correctly, for example if the colourless, transparent syringe adapter has not been properly attached to the bottle;
  • the red ring has not been removed and the grey cap cannot be screwed fully onto the bottle. This can cause a small amount of suspension to enter the cap during shaking, which will then leak from the bottle when it is turned upside down

Remove the red ring if it is still on the bottle and clean the cap and the top of the bottle.

Make sure the top of the bottle is completely clean before screwing the grey cap back onto the bottle.

We recommend always storing the bottle upright in the refrigerator.

Pedippi is prepared at the pharmacy. 64 ml of water must be added. Tap water is suitable for preparing Pedippi.

Why does the packaging state that there is a minimum of 75ml available? Surely there is 90ml in there?

The packaging does indeed state that at least 75 ml is available for administration, which is confusing.

When registering this liquid medicine, the manufacturer was obliged to state this in the package leaflet and on the packaging. The CBG-MEB assumes that some wastage must be taken into account for 28 daily doses. Hence the minimum of 75 ml. See also SmPC 6.5 and the package leaflet.

What can I do if my child spits out Pedippi or does not like the taste?

If your child spits out Pedippi because of the taste, you can try the following: Hold your child upright and squirt the measured dose in small amounts into your child's cheek pouch, or dilute the measured dose with a little milk (20-30 ml maximum).
