Fagron and PureIMS have joined forces
Fagron and PureIMS have joined forces to make the CYCLOPS® dry powder inhaler available nationwide in the Netherlands.The two Dutch pharmaceutical companies have signed an agreement granting Fagron exclusive rights to organise the nationwide distribution of PureIMS's magistral preparations, such as an inhaled antibiotic for the treatment of pulmonary Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in patients with cystic fibrosis.
The CYCLOPS® dry powder inhaler is distinguished by its user-friendliness and hygienic design and has been specially developed for high-dose inhalation powders, such as antibiotics. With CYCLOPS®, patients can discreetly inhale this medication within one minute at home or on the go. PureIMS currently produces one inhaled antibiotic in the CYCLOPS® as a compounded product in accordance with GMP quality standards.
Collaboration between PureIMS and Fagron
Thanks to the collaboration between PureIMS and Fagron, CYCLOPS® will now be distributed nationwide in the Netherlands through Infinity Pharma. Infinity Pharma specialises in patient-specific preparations and has the facilities to provide active patient support. This ensures that this innovative and user-friendly inhaler is available to as many patients as possible and can be delivered within a short period of time.
With this collaboration, Fagron is taking its first steps in the distribution of dry powder inhalation products. Sjoerd van Olffen, Product & Innovation Manager at Fagron, explains: "Inhalation is a very patient-friendly route of administration. Because the patient is central to everything Fagron does, innovations such as CYCLOPS® fit perfectly into our product portfolio. We are therefore very pleased with this addition.”
